Russia & Ukraine: Barley production forecast down for Russia, slightly increased for Ukraine
Russias barley production forecast is down to 17.8 mln tonnes (from 18.1 mln tonnes earlier in October) due to the final lower yield outcome, RMI Analytics reported last week.
Ukraines crop forecast is now slightly up at 10.3 mln tonnes (from 10.1 mln) thanks to better yields.
Ukrainian barley shipments are about 20% ahead of last year (mostly thanks to demand from China) while Russias pace has slowed down (minus 15% due to a smaller crop).
The two nations ending stocks will remain seriously tight from a reduced supply situation amidst a continued strong demand environment.
